Week 17

How far along are you? 17 weeks
How big is baby? Palm-size, About 5 inches crown to rump and about 5 ounces.
Weight gain/loss? As of last week at the doctor I had gained 4 pounds.
Stretch marks? Not yet thanks to my belly cream J
Maternity clothes? Yes, this week I have had to start wearing maternity clothes… getting a little round.
Best moment this week? Feeling the baby for the first time at exactly 17 weeks. I was working at my desk typing at my computer and I felt a little tickle/movement so I sat up and moved around a second… and then remembered the doctor said to be watching for movement this week. I went back and sat in the position that I was previously and he started moving again. Adam was at work so I texted my mom and sister… when they didn’t reply I called Holland to tell somebody what was happening. I couldn’t stop giggling!!!
Gender? It’s a BOY… without a name!
Movement? In the late afternoon early evening until I go to bed… A few times I have felt him moving a bit during the night. He is a late sleeper like mommy…
Belly button? Stretched a bit sideways but not poking out yet…
Symptoms? Morning sickness is completely gone since week 15. Just hungry all the time and really craving fruits and veggies. And anything spicy!!!
What do I miss? Adam and I were at dinner the other night and they had Sangria on the menu… I really wanted some!!!
What am I looking forward to this week? Not pregnancy related but really excited to spend the week next week in Florida with my family celebrating my Cousin Meredith’s wedding. My sister and dad haven’t seen my baby bump yet J
Milestones? No milestones really… just excited to feel movement and SUPER excited to not feel sick anymore!

March 24, 2012 Gender Reveal Party hosted by Aunt Holland.

I had mentioned to Holland that I wanted to have a gender reveal party which is a new trendy party and reason to get together to celebrate a new baby. Holland organized the party with our family and a few friends… and my mom came up for the weekend for the party J We got together and then had the reveal by cutting a cake to see what color was inside… Pink or Blue… our cake was blue J Such a fun party and way to celebrate our son!!!

March 22, 2012 Found out the sex of our baby… IT’S A BOY!!!!!!!!

There seems to be a trend… each doctors appointment gets better and better. This time we elected to have an additional sonogram to find out the sex of the baby. Adam and I walked in to the appointment beaming because we knew when we left the appointment we would know if we were going to have a baby boy or baby girl. I had a feeling all along it was going to be a girl… as did my ENTIRE family. Adam said he never had a feeling… we were about to find out… We had the same amazing sensation when we walked into the sonogram room knowing that we were about to see our precious bundle of joy again. It is amazing how much the baby changes at each appointment (as you can see from the pictures). Once it was time to find out the sex of the baby we were glued to the screen… IT’S A… BOY!!!!!! There was no doubt what we were looking at. We had been told by several people that they had no idea what they were looking at until the technician pointed it out… well not this time… there was no guessing!! We had our normally scheduled appointment with our doctor after the sonogram and they had already seen the pictures. They gave us a hard time about our baby boy not being modest. He was not shy about showing everything during our sonogram J
Baby 16 Weeks

February 24, 2012 Saw baby again and found out the baby is healthy.

Our second appointment was an even more exciting appointment than the first. We had a few test done between our first and second appointment and they all came back with positive results. We also had another sonogram to make sure the baby was healthy and still on track. What we saw in the sonogram was that we were given the most beautiful baby we had ever seen… and this baby was HEALTHY!!! It was the first time I was able to say I didn’t care about anything else in the world at that moment… We were having a healthy baby!!! Adam and I agreed after the appointment that we did not care at all if we had a boy or girl because we know the baby is healthy J Such a great piece of mind!

Baby 12 Weeks

Derek and Kim Ancira in California for a pre-deployment leave… expecting their first baby within a month of ours J

Our first of many pregnancy poses… just joking because our baby bumps are too small to see.

January 27, 2012 Our First Doctors appointment and we saw our peanut for the first time.

Since we had just relocated to California we had to find a doctor quickly to go in for our first appointment at 8 weeks. I wanted to see my doctor in Texas before I left but it was too early so we waited to get into our doctor in Roseville. Adam took the afternoon off to come to the appointment with me. My sister told us that we might get to see the baby at the first appointment so we were anxiously awaiting this appointment. Once we got in to see the doctor our nerves were calmed with the amazing doctor God had sent us! She did a sonogram for us to see the baby and we also got to hear the strong heart beat… WOW was that the most emotional moment of our lives!!! As soon as I heard the heartbeat I lost it J So amazed that Adam and I were blessed with such a miracle.
Baby 8 Weeks

January 3, 2012 We found out we were pregnant.

This was one of the most amazing days of my life. I have always dreamed of the day I would find out we were going to have a baby and always imagined what it would look like… but this was not exactly the way I had planned. Adam and I were in the process of relocating to Northern California and he had moved out to Sacramento on December 1st. I was going to be moving on January 13th. We had visited each other a few times in December and spent the Holidays together in Las Vegas with my family. On January 2nd I flew back to Dallas and Adam flew back to Sacramento and we wouldn’t see each other again until I was out in California after the move. So… imagine my surprise to find out our life was forever changed the day after we left each other in Las Vegas… There I was by myself in the bathroom of our tiny temporary one bedroom apartment. That afternoon Adam and I sat down to jot down a few notes about our feelings from that morning, so here they are:

Sarah: Today is the one of the top two best days of my life. It is hard to say if our wedding day beats this day or not... Today we found out we are having a BABY!!!!! We are four and a half weeks along. I can't describe the feeling I am having... so excited and relieved at the same time. We have been trying to have a baby for a year and we were about to take the next steps to become pregnant when it happened on its own!!!! We are SO blessed and SO excited to start our family. Yesterday, when Adam and I were packing our bags to leave Las Vegas from our Christmas/New Years trip I took a pregnancy test at my sister, Liz's house because I thought I might be a little late... hard to know because I had been focusing on my niece and nephew the last 10 days!!! The test I took was digital and had some sort of malfunction and just had a blank screen. I didn't think anything of it and went on with my day.
This morning when I woke up in Texas I thought I should probably try again which was a very common practice for the last year around the time I was supposed to be starting my period. Today the test looked the same as it normally did... until I looked at it again and there were TWO lines instead of ONE!!! I took another test and it was also positive.... I called Adam at work and pretended to be calm... asking him if he was having a good morning and if he was the only one in the office or if people were around him... he said there were people around but I couldn't keep it in anymore so I told him I took two pregnancy tests and they were both positive!!!!!! He didn't believe me and kept asking is this a joke... are you being serious?? After I convinced him that I was serious he told me to go to the grocery store to get two other brands of tests to verify... I went to the store in my pj’s and purchased two boxes of tests... almost running through the store to get home... took the tests while on the phone with my sister and they were ALL POSITIVE!!!!!!! I called Adam back to tell him the news and he was speechless!!!!!!!
God has taken care of us and blessed us with the precious baby that we will love the rest of our lives. I can't wait to spend the next eight months preparing for our precious gift from God to arrive!!! This baby is going to be SO loved and have all the hugs and kisses a baby can handle. WOW!!! Still in shock!!!!!!!!!

Adam: I was the fourth person in the office today. Owen, Doug and Tim were already here but it was pretty quiet around my area. You called at 7:27 and asked if anybody was near me. I could tell you had to talk to me about something. There was nobody directly near me but I was still hesitant to discuss anything serious with the owner of the agency still within earshot. You then told me: “I took two pregnancy tests this morning and they were both positive”. I knew what you said but had to pause to take it all in. I couldn’t react the way I typically would since I was in the office and it would have been a dead giveaway. I asked if you were serious and you said yes. Then you started to have some tears of joy and my eyes also got a little wet. Finally, I told you to go to the store to get another brand of pregnancy tests for the final confirmation. All four tests taken were positive. Amazing! I couldn’t be happier.

Hello Family and friends!!!

By now you probably know that Adam and I are expecting our first baby on September 6, 2012.  I am starting my blog 17.5 weeks into our pregnancy. I have a few girlfriends that have kept a great blog throughout their pregnancy and they are so great about capturing moments with their sweet babies. They inspired me to do the same… although I am already late J We have had some pretty exciting times so far… so I am going to recap a few of those days and start fresh from here on.
